Maui or Oahu? can't decide

Now that I chose to go to Hawaii instead of Cancun. I cant decide if I want to go to Maui or Oahu? Our friend want to go to Pearl harbor and so do we. I was thinking of Maui then Island hop to Oahu for a day or 2. the problem is I have never been to Oahu but I have been to Maui. I LOVE Maui and would love to stay there. But I have never been to Oahu. ???? We will also only have a week to enjoy ourselfs and dont want to be rushed with time. Do we have enough time to island hop? Im going in October 2008. Im looking to have lots of fun doing activities and also relax on great beacches. Please help I really need your advice......Thank you

Maui or Oahu? can't decide

You will definitely not get the same ';hawaiian'; vibe in oahu. I love both places you just have to decide if you want the faster pace of the city (assuming you stay in the waikiki area) or the relaxed atmosphere of Maui.

In my humble opinion it would fine to stay in Maui and go to Oahu for a night or two. Pearl Harbor would take half day or so and then spend the rest at Waikiki and area beaches.

Maui or Oahu? can't decide

There is more to see on Oahu than any other island.

Lots of info:

I agree with Dusty, there is more to do on Oahu and you don%26#39;t have to spend a lot of money to have fun on Oahu. You can have the energy of Waikiki and you can slow down on the North Shore. Maui is great too, but my best memories are on Oahu.

I would spent a couple nights on Oahu/Waikiki and the rest on Maui.

Do a little research, there are great packages to fly you to Oahu for a day. If you do the Arizona don%26#39;t miss the Punchbowl as well, awe inspiring! Just don%26#39;t do it in a bus...they don%26#39;t let you out to wander.

Oahu is a completely different vibe from Maui...both fun and good but very different. Honolulu itself is Seattle with palm trees...hhmmm...San Diego! HA But Oahu does have many lovely places to visit. Good luck!

There are good suggestions above-you will have to decide what you want. Spending a couple of dyas in Oahu then island hop top Maui seems to me to be the best compromise. If I had just a week, I would spend the entire week on Maui or Oahu-your choice.

I agree Sumit...a week is not enough time to island hop...too many hours in airports. Hours and hours and hours... Not enough down time, which is what you are there for. And Premadonna the time change, though small, DOES screw you up!

thank you very much. you guys have been a great help.
