We were in Waikiki last week on the days the jellyfish were predicted. I was concerned but they did not show up this go round. We snorkled and swam and had no problems.

Maui does not have the problems with the box jelly fish. It seems it is only on Oahu.

Are the Box Jellyfish mainly on the Waikiki beaches? Or does this refer to the whole Island?

mrsfuzz, haven%26#39;t seen you much lately. My husand and I will be on Maui on March18-25th. So looking forward to it. Still hoping to try that Mango brule%26#39;. And fish tacos!

Pattie, In the link on the right side ';Box Jellyfish Information %26amp; Treatment'; it states the following:

Box jellyfish, Carybdea alata and Carybdea rastonii, regularly swarm to Hawaii%26#39;s Leeward shores 9 to 10 days after the full moon. Affected areas include Waikiki Beach, Ala Moana Beach Park, as well as Hanauma Bay, and may also include ocean areas and beach front up to and including the Wai`anae Coast.

The calendar is amazingly accurate, they usually last about 2 days and the lifeguards will post signs so if you are there at that time, just schedule something else.
