Ka'anapali Beach Club vs Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort

My wife and I are 30 somethings going to Maui in September this year. We like to take day excursions, eat ate a variety of places and do some clubbing at night. Which location do you think would be better for us. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Ka'anapali Beach Club vs Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resort

I%26#39;m in my late 20s and have been to Maui three times. Two of the times were girl trips and the other trip was my honeymoon. I suggest that you stay on the Kapulua/Kaanapali side. I stayed at the Sheraton (Kaanapali) for a week on one of my trips. The restaurants along the beach are a lot of fun (but there can be a wait...you can shop while you wait). A lot of stuff is going on in that area, and I certainly recommend the Sheraton. Really, any of the hotels in the Kaanapali area would probably be nice.

If I remember correctly, Kapalua is a little bit further down the road. When I stayed in Kapalua, we drove to Kaanapali for most of our activities. If you want a super romantic night, it%26#39;s worth the drive to the Ritz-Carlton. Go to the Banyan Tree...incredible views and chocolate desserts!

I also did some zip line activites (near the airport), helicopter rides (near the airport), snorkeling trips at Molokini (on the way to the airport), and bike rides (also near the airport). So keep in mind that you will have to drive about 30 minutes to the airport area for most of your excursions so if you go to the Kapalua area, the drive is a bit longer. It%26#39;s a BEAUTIFUL drive, but I did get a little tired to doing it.

and I forgot to mention...on my honeymoon, I stayed on the Hana side at Hotel Hana. Hotel Hana is an absolutely incredible place, but it wouldn%26#39;t fit your needs for this trip. It%26#39;s a quite place...more for being romantic than clubbing. The road to Hana is a worthwhile adventure and you should look into it. Start early!

I have never stayed at the westin which is very new but right next door to Kaanapali Beach Club(KBC) which was the Embassy. I own at KBC %26amp; enjoy my stays there. they have nightly happy hours about 4-6pm w/ free beer, mai tais, %26amp; well drinks. It is not far to Lahaina where most of the later night action is. This resort is fairly quiet later which is typical outside of the city.

Thanks for the info everyone. From reading a lot of the post I think I%26#39;m going to stay at KBC, everything I%26#39;ve read and seen about look pretty good and it looks to be centrally located to things we%26#39;d like to do.

Tks Again

Another thought: The Westin Kaanapali Villas are about twice as close to Whalers Village and one can use the resort van to get there. Also, the Villas are newer and on a great snorkeling beach. KBC is also nice although beach directly in front is not as nice. I think you%26#39;d like either but if I had a choice I%26#39;d go with the Villas (although they would be more expensive and if I wanted to save money for eating out, excursions, etc. the KBC might be the way to go.)
