Anyone been to both Cabo and Maui? We have alot of travel points and are trying to figure out which is the better spot to use them? If you have been to both, which would you recommend and why?
Cabo vs. Maui?
I have been to both and prefer Maui. But then you gave no indication of your age or interests so it%26#39;s a little tough! Ha Each has a lot to offer depending on age and interests.
We had fun in Cabo, don%26#39;t get me wrong, I just prefer the Hawaiian ';vibe';. Hawaii is more expensive, although Cabo is quickly catching up.
If you give a few more details I might be able to offfer more help.
Oh yeah, my hubbie and sons say the fishing in Cabo
(December) is FAR superior to Maui! Ha
Cabo vs. Maui?
I%26#39;ve been to both and I prefer Maui. I love Hawaii and the atmosphere and climate. The beaches are nicer and swimmable.
Cabo has one major beach that is considered safe for swimming, but most of the other beaches are too rough. I also feel like I can drive around and get lost in Maui and feel safe, but do not necessarily feel the same about Cabo and Mexico. I had a great time in Cabo and may go back someday, but given the choice I%26#39;d say Maui hands down.
One of the main differences is Hawaii is a State -- with good public health, well-marked roads, near-zero unemployment. You can safely drive almost anywhere; visit different islands, different beaches.
You aren%26#39;t limited to a compound to keep you in and %26#39;them%26#39; out -- in a foreign country with high poverty and crime levels.
well Hawaii is in america, you know drink the water, flush toilet, clean, english speaking, environmental, non-corrupt, america.
I have been to Cobo...sailed there in my boat...Got sick from the food, had to pay off crooked folks every day, watched daily as visitors got robbed by gangs of roving kids,.....and the sky high prices they rip gringos off for...as I walked the trash filled streets, fennding off drug dealers, hookers, con artist in a never ending parade. lousy beaches,
Are you kidding.....not even a choice..once is enough. Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me....
Your getting the idea from all the answers to your question. Maui hands down for all the reasons that have been listed. I%26#39;ve been to Cabo twice, the second just last month on a cruise (the only way you get get be back there a second time) and I still feel the same way. I can walk around Maui anytime of day or night and feel safe. I don%26#39;t have to worry about the water, I can eat almost anywhere, and I%26#39;m not hit on by every other person to buy something from them on the streets.
Just kidding, but what is the bad part..
Oh yeah tj is not even safe. imo
I vote Hawaii.
ps, although the everwhere I walk, and girls hit on me was cool imo.
I vote for Maui as well.
Cabo is no where near as bad as some are making it out to be. I felt comfortable there. We stayed in a privately rented condo which was a 10 minute walk from the beach and felt safe. We were not in a giant hotel that felt like a complex. The main thing I did not like about the Cabo area is it only has that 1 safe swimming beach. The rest of them are quite dangerous. Many Americans and Canadians own places in Cabo. We were there in %26#39;97 but I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s grown a lot since then.
If you went for holiday destinations that were only States you might as well live in a bubble.
Holiday only in States? Bubble?
The OP asked about the pro%26#39;s and cons%26#39; of these two destinations. Many forum participants are world travelers. Gosh, we%26#39;ve even visited Vancouver! Also mot of the countries on the Continent, England, Scandinavia, Russia, etc. Even Mexico (twice was more than enough).
Maui for sure!! While you are at it add.. Kaui or the big island of Hawaii too... I loved all three.
Cabo was just okay to me... the town was small not super exciting but a few nice restaurants... stayed at the westin which was nice.. but the surf broke so hard.. that you couldn%26#39;t swim there.. so we had to swim in the pool. My husband and I shared the same lunch one day... I was fine and he got VERY sick for about 2 days.... One of which was the evening of our Anniversary.....
Maui was smooth sailing and beautiful.....
