Compare Pacifico to Io's Restaurant Please

Aloha- We are still struggling with restaurants but as I said earlier, this is the ONE thing that unites all of us and can make a wonderful memory, if it is the right place. Could some of you please share the differences with I%26#39;o and Pacifico (Sister Restaurants?) We had settled on I%26#39;os and more and more people are recommending Pacificos and we are unsure what the difference is..

Did you know that they have their own website with links to the different restaurants? Once I decided on Pacific%26#39;o, I booked a reservation online at their site and was able to specify ';ocean front'; table. (I have not been yet so cannot give a real comparison- just judged by reviews of others that favor Pacific%26#39;o.)

I have been to both. Pacifico%26#39;s offers the beachfront view and such where as Io%26#39;s does not. Io%26#39;s has a courtyard with outdoor dining. I personally thought the food was better at Io%26#39;s but I also enjoyed Pacifico%26#39;s.

for those who are wondering the difference both restaurants are regional cuisine. pacifico has more of an asain influence and i%26#39;o is more mediteranian. pacifico is considered to have the best view in maui, as for food i%26#39;o is more refined and considered the best kept secret by most who live in maui. the view isn%26#39;t bad either considering it is right next door.

We have more ';ordinary'; palates, so the menu at Pacifico%26#39;s appeals more to us. The Feast at Lele is in front of I%26#39;o%26#39;s. Depending on time of day, it may be more noisy.

i am a foodie and have been to lots of fantastic restaurants all over the county. i always do research on them so i dont waste my time and money. i was wanting to go to either of these reataurants because of the website and reviews that stated how fresh and great the food was. when we arrived, only pacific o was open for lunch. we had a great table overlooking the view. there were 3 other couples on the patio at that time. after sitting for 10 minutes, a server came over to say hi and take our drink order. about 15 minutes later as he was taking the other couples check, my husband asked for his drink (a glass of wine, nothing that had to be made). the server said, sure. about 10 minutes later, he came back with the wine and the change for the other couple. as the other couple left they stopped at our table and said, ';i hope you have alot of time, they are slow and the food wasnt worth the wait';. 10 minutes later the server came back to take our order. by now there is no one in the restaurant but-- us at the tables and 3 people at the bar (who i think worked there anyway). 30 minutes later the server says ';your order should be out soon';. 10 minutes later he came out and asked us ';what did we order again?';. i know, i know you are thinking ';maui time'; and all of that. but, honestly we are the ONLY ONES THERE!!!!!!! my husband ordered mahi over wheat pasta with mushrooms and i ordered the dos tacos dish (fish tacos with %26#39;slaw). niether one,in my opinion, takes too long to cook. 15 minutes later our food is delivered. my husband got his fish, i got some dish that looked like chicken on flat bread with fries. i asked ';where is the slaw'; he said, oh, i guess we are out of it and walked away. i decided that i wasnt going to eat this chicken and fries. when my husband flagged the server down and told him this, he said, ok i will go find out if there is slaw. well, he took my plate and was gone for 20 minutes. then brought my tacos with the slaw (note--it was TOTALLY different dish). he said to us ';there is a new cook in the kitchen, he is really slow and doesnt know how too cook the dishes yet. here you go, we even gave you an extra taco on us.'; by this time i am pissed. i am disgusted with myself for believing the reataurants website and for wasting too much time at this place for nothing. the food was cold and HELLO i am not a MORON, ';dos tacos'; MEANS 2 tacos!!!! my experience was HORRIBLE!!! be careful. i would make very sure the chef or the manager was onsite! 2 hours for lunch with below average food and service does not make for a good dining experience!

That is awful that that happened to you. I%26#39;m guessing that the reason it happened to you was not because it was busy but because there were not many people there and because it was NOT busy. (I worked in the biz for years during college.) The server was probably off doing sidework or prepping to wrap up and go home.

If you go to a restaurant in the mid to late afternoon, unfortunately, service can sometimes suck.
