Changed my mind about staying in Maui for 8 days, now want to spend 1/2 in Kauai. I%26#39;m going the 1st week in March. Should I go to Kauai 1st then Kihei or vice versa? It looks like Kauai is just as nice as Maui %26amp; the accomodations are about the same. Where should I stay in Kauai? I just want to relax %26amp; go to the beach. I don%26#39;t need fancy, just clean and quiet, and not many kids. Probably won%26#39;t be eating in so a full kitchen is not necessary. Thanks!!
Kihei %26amp; Kauai in March
we love the Poipu area on Kauai. It%26#39;s on the dryer side of the island and it%26#39;s a lovely area. Poipu Beach is outstanding. There are many condos to pick from there. We have stayed at Poipu Shores and Poipu Kapili, there are many other choices that are less expensive. I also would recommend Kiahuna Plantation. The property fronts Poipu Beach. Try VRBO for rentals.

So you are going to fly from one island to the other for 4 days. The time getting to the islands and home are about 2 days and getting from one island to the other is at least 1/2 day. I would do one island for the entire time.
shanty has a very good point. island hopping takes a great deal of time and literally eats a whole day by the time you pack, check out, turn in your car, sit at the airport (when you could be on the beach) then wait for your luggage again, rent another car, check into another hotel or condo...etc..
You may just want to stay in one place.
It all makes sense, I was thinking the same thing, except that getting from SLC to Lihue in 1 day is difficult, I have to fly ATA to get the points. I%26#39;ll have to re-arrange my flight %26amp; leave from a city that gets me to Honolulu in time to catch a flight to Kauai. Thanks, I just can%26#39;t wait to get to Hawaii, I%26#39;m counting the days....
We just returned from a trip where we spent one week in Maui and then one week in Kauai. We took the only direct flight with Aloha Airlines. It was at about 2 PM. All other flights you have to fly to Honolulu and ten kauai.
