Hello Everyone! man this site and all you people are AMAZING

Ive received so much help, so fast! My question is where should i stay in Maui? Im going on my honeymoon in August and we were thinking about staying at the Kaannapalli beach club. The price is about $200 a night and that includes a car rental. Does anyone know of anyother nice hotels with a good price. Also would it be better to spend more time in Maui or Kauai? Whats the cheapest way to fly from chicago? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion Kauai is the more romantic and beautiful island, but Maui offers more options for daytrips as it is bigger. So I would say that you should spend more time in Maui.

The people here ARE amazing !!!

now for my opinion -- its your honeymoon and why do you want to lose a day packing - flying and unpacking on another island

stay on maui this trip and go to kauai the next time

Let%26#39;s face it! The only ones really amazing here are Budweiser and the Caddy. The rest of you are...oh..';pretty darn good'; TA would say.

Seriously, I haven%26#39;t stayed in Kaannapalli for a while. (And I like Taco Bell and Holiday Inn Express....That%26#39;s a joke people!!!!)

Yes, you will waste most of a day packing up, returning your car, sitting in the airport, waiting for the shuttle to the car rental place, reading maps, trying to find your way to the next hotel, unpacking---exhausting just to think about this! Staying in one location is much less stressful.

Caddy, you and Bud are amazing. You all should pat yourselves on the back.

$200 is pretty darn cheap per night for a hotel. Are they going to make you and your new bride sit through a time-share presentation for that deal. If you only want to spend $200/night or less, you might do better in a condo. I wouldn%26#39;t spend less than 5 nights on either island. 7 is better though. I liked Kauai on our honeymoon but me and hubby are hikers and nature lovers - minus the granola. Check out the Whaler on Kaanapali beach if you want to be within walking distance of nice restaurants and shops. This is a condo complex but is right next to nice hotels and is pretty nice itself. If you want to spend less, we can recommend condos in different areas.

chisue flies from Chicago, maybe she will check out your question.

Yes, you might loose maybe one day by travelling, but in my opnion it is worth splitting your trip between those two islands, because they are different and each very beautiful in their own way.

A question that matters would be: How many days would your honeymoon last? If it is only one week then I would stay on one island, but if you have 2 weeks then I would split my trip.

I agree with the last poster.. depends on the time spent on vacation. If you have 10 days or more I would do both.

We%26#39;re here at our condo in Kamaole (South Kihei). Beautiful weather, BTW. (Had to get that dig in %26#39;cause I know it%26#39;s still rotten in the Midwest.)

We still don%26#39;t know how long the OP has for the honeymoon, so it%26#39;s hard to say whether they can do more than one island. In August they could enjoy the Princeville area of Kauai -- but the hotel there is closed for extensive renovations for who knows how long. There are nice condos north. August would be a little hot in Poipu, Kauai.

Unless they connect from Chicago to a West Coast city and then on to Hawaii, they will be flying via Honolulu and then connecting to Kauai or Maui.

I%26#39;d suggest a two-to-three day stop at a hotel in Honolulu, then on to a resort condo on Maui. (Rent a car for one day to tour Oahu.)

We fly AA because we have miles to apply for first class seats, but ATA is usually cheapest; they fly out of Midway. It%26#39;s a long day of travel: Nine hours Chicago/Honolulu; allow an hour between flights; 30 minutes to Maui. (Be sure to get your luggage checked through to Maui from Chicago. Ours didn%26#39;t make the HNL/OGG flight we were on this trip so Aloha delivered it to us before ten that night.)
