Island hopping itinerary

I am planning to go to Hawaii in Dec. this year, and have a hard time to plan the island hopping itinerary.

We (my husband and I) are in our 30s, and will spend 8 days in Hawaii. So far we are interested in Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. I know it sounds CRAZY to do 3 island hopping in 8 days, but I just like to know if this is doable AT ALL.

Since we%26#39;ve never been to Hawaii, and we are not looking for an ';extensive'; trip, we just want to see the best part of it. We love beautiful scenery, outdoors activities, and food; we are not into nightlife, museums or staying on a beach the whole afternoon.

If 3-island-hopping is not doable, should I choose Maui or Kauai?

Please give me some suggestions!

aloha! Well, it sounds exhausting to me . . . the point in seeing and experiencing in Hawaii is to take in the gentle aloha spirit of the islands. A basic rule of thumb is a week per island, though many do a few days on Oahu and then hop to another island - really depends on what all you want to see and do. I would say that if you only had 8 days, maybe 2 days on Oahu and then a week on either Maui or Kauai. I think Kauai has the most spectacular scenery and really is a great island to enjoy outdoor activities, and while I like dining out there, it%26#39;s not known for the food - Maui might be a better fit if dining out at good restaurants is really important and there is still plenty of things to do as well. Hope this helps get you started on a great Hawaiian vacation. :)

One island is best. Two maybe.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

Even 2 islands in 8 days is pushing things. That said, I%26#39;d suggest a couple or three days on O`ahu and the rest on Kaua`i for the greatest contrast. Kaua`i is gorgeous and has lots of outdoor activities as well as beautiful beaches.
