Shuttle from airport to hotel

Aloha! I am planning a return trip to BI for next year, and we are going to add in a side trip to Molokai shortly after our arrival. Usually we rent privately, and also rent a car. This time, though, since we will be landing in Kona and heading out a day or two later, we plan on staying at a local hotel and would prefer not to get a car for those few days. Do any of the hotels in Kona offer shuttle service from the airport (free or otherwise)?

No. Cheap rental car will be more economical. Even staying in Kailua-Kona, car is worth it if you want to go to a beach or see anything besides the town and hotel.

We have been to Kona before, and will be returning there after our little jaunt to Molokai. At that point, we will rent a car. For the first day or two, before we head to Molokai, we just want to stay close to town and relax. That is why we don%26#39;t want to rent...we have no need for a car.

Melelina,

I understand what you are saying, but since only the very high end (read Four Seasons) has a shuttle that will pick you up, the cab fare will be more than the cost of a cheap rental. So it is actually cheaper and to some extent, easier to rent. No hotel in Kailua-Kona has a shuttle service to and from the airport, to my knowledge.

Good luck and happy travels!

Yep, echo is correct, it actually will cost you less to rent a car than the cost of the taxi from and to the airport. A car in Kona is essential regardless of where you will stay.

Okay, thanks everyone. At least I know now.

Mahalo!

there is a pay shuttle service from the airport, I want to say it%26#39;s about $40 per person each way though, hardly economical. I think it goes to a few different hotels. Put shuttle in the search bar. It was a recent topic here.

Speedy Shuttle $25 + tips each way. They use small Mercedes buses.
