I am visiting in May and will have time for one round of golf. Should I make the trip to the Northshore and play The Prince or stay south and play Poipu Bay. We are staying at the Hyatt.
Time for one round.
With your limited time, and staying at the hyatt, you might play POIPU BAY. Beautiful course, and is right next door to the hyatt.
We hike along the trail next to Poipu Bay, and it is a spectacular scenery for us and the golfers. The course is impecably groomed, really nice !
For an excellent opinion of Poipu Bay and other courses check out the Ultimate Kauai Guide Book.
The info is from a golfers standpoint, and pretty staight forward.
You can give them a call at 808-742-8711 for their up to date green fees. Hyatt guests received a discount. Collared shirts are required.
Your choice to drive up to Princeville, depending on how much time you have to have, but Poipu Bay would make things easiere, and take note that poipu is referred to as SUNNY POIPU.
Early tee times might be an idea with lighter winds than later in the day.

Let me second Denny%26#39;s recommendation of Poipu Bay -- it is absolutely gorgeous and last time we were there in much better condition than the Prince. Poipu Bay works well for a scratch golfer as well as a high handicapper. The Prince is beautiful, but tough -- we are about 15 %26#39;s and lost about 20 golf balls there between us.
agree you should go to poipu.
princeville has not been in decent shape for a few years now, in fact, it wouldn%26#39;t even be the 2nd (or even 3rd) place i%26#39;d direct you to for a round.
I%26#39;ll 2nd (or 3rd) Poipu Bay vs. Princeville. The last time we played golf, I held out for Poipu Bay and skipped Princeville all together. My brother in law insisted on playing at The Prince but my husband said it was in horrible shape and not worth the $$. Since you are staying at the Hyatt anyway, it will be very convienent, too.
Don%26#39;t even give it a second thought, stay where you are and play Poipu.
Great course, condition and great views and one of the best prop shops anywhere. Plus have breakfast at the clubhouse restaurant and treat yourself to the Frittata or fruit pancakes, not cheap, but yum yum.
Thanks guys. You made the decision easy.
