Need advice for a great dinner in Wailea.

Looking to go to dinner in wailea a couple different nights. We are open to just about all types of cuisine. I%26#39;m looking for a place with Great food and good value. I%26#39;m not afraid to spend a little money, however i dont need the most expensive place in the area either.

Nick

Need advice for a great dinner in Wailea.

Ruths Chris for a great steak

Need advice for a great dinner in Wailea.

It%26#39;s interesting that your name is Nick, because I would suggest Nick%26#39;s Fishmarket at the Fairmont. If you don%26#39;t mind a drive, the most interesting dining experience (pricy, though) on the island, I think, is Mama%26#39;s Fish House at the beginning of the Road to Hana.

If you are looking for very good meal at a reasonable price I would suggest Cafe O%26#39;Lei in Kihei (only about 1 mile from the Wailea border). If you are looking for a spectacular meal at a higher price I would highly recommend Capische at the Diamond Resort. We have been to both restaurants several times and really have enjoyed our food at all sittings. Reservations are a must at either place.

I would second Cafe O%26#39;Lei. If you want some entertainment, you could see if Mulligan%26#39;s on the Blue is still having Wailea Nights, which is a dinner show.

I also agree with Nick because your name is Nick.:) But Nick%26#39;s is Greek with island accents. There are also other Nicks it is not the only one but is high quality. It is from the Tri Star restaurant group.

Ruth Chris is a steak house CHAIN that you can have anywhere. I haven%26#39;t been to Cafe O%26#39;lei but trust Frenchfrydog she knows.:) I always think local cuisine is better than a chain or something you can get somewhere else.

For cheap but really great local cuisine DaKicthen in Kihei. Kihei is also in South Maui a short drive from Wailea.

There is also Five Palms in South Maui. There is also Water Front at Maalea.

For Sushi Hakone at the Maui Prince or Sushi Paradise in Kihei.

There are many choices in South Maui like the rest of Maui.

what frenchfrydog says -- 2 great places - one high end and the other kind of funky

I didn%26#39;t really see much Greek influences at Nick%26#39;s (my family is Greek, so I tend to be aware of these things). I like Nick%26#39;s. The food is very good, the service can a bit overwhelming (a lot of people around the table, but none of them understand food or wine). No views. Because of the quality of the food, we go there every trip, but it is not by any means my favorite place in the area.

For highest quality food, the choice has become easy. Capische knocks it out of the ballpark. Interesting Italian, with great island influences. The staff is interested in food and the wine pairings are excellent. It is best known for the stunning sunset views, but the reason that I would return is the quality of the food and wine.

I also like Ferraro%26#39;s (very good food, very good service, and better views than Capische since it sits right above the beach), Joe%26#39;s (an ugly place with great food) and even Spago (go only if you have confidence in ordering. The servers will direct you to the most expensive items on the menu).

Nicks claims they are Greek. But it has island accents. It isn%26#39;t the kind of Greek you would get in NYC. I know there is a little Greek town in Chicago too.(not the kind you can get in Santorini either) :) But the food on Maui is always kind of fusion. It is listed as Greek sea Food. But again not true Greek flavors just accents. But good anyway.

I would personally go for DaKitchen because it is true local fare and it is cheap and not a tourists trap. I cant imagine going to Maui and not eating at Da Kitchen.

I can confirm that the owners of Nick%26#39;s are Greek. The owners of the Chicago location sold the Maui location to other Greek relatives.

I may be mistaken, but I don%26#39;t even recall seeing any olives used in the cooking. You are not Greek unless you cook with Kalamata olives.

no I know as I said the food on Maui is mainly fusion. Thy have Greek salad on the menu and think that makes it Greek. But in any case just letting them know so they dont think it is Pacfiic Rim, Hawaiian, or straight up local food.

Still think DaKitchen because it is true local cuisine.
