Okay, I am on a roll, and so appreciate any input to the trip that we are saving for all year! I have looked at this resort and see some possiblities? Anyone have any input or experience with this property? All details appreciated! I am so thankful for people willing to share! I need to have this trip to look forward to!!
Diamond Resort and Spa
We ate at Capische? the fine dining restaurant there. The property is high above the coast, with sweeping views. It%26#39;s maybe a 10 minute drive down to the beaches (you%26#39;d park at a beach access spot) .
I believe the history of the resort is that it was originally going to be a private residential club for wealthy Japanese golfers. In any event, it has a very austere, elegant, Japanese-style design and decor. We liked that very much....it is definitely not the brass and marbe glitz of the Grand Wailea and such!!!
It seems quiet and elegant.
Diamond Resort and Spa
Okay... I am wildly impressed with the number of your posts and the amount of travel!!! Is there anything else that you could tell me about Maui... I am going with my daughter in law/granddaughter, and hopefully, two friends... we will be there 10 days. We enjoy fun/food/activity/relaxation/spa... Hawaii!!
Honu has summed it up well. I don%26#39;t see this for your party, especially the 12-year-old. The restaurant is wonderful, but Diamond is %26#39;way out by itself, above the beach, away from *everything*. I think you%26#39;ll want to be more centrally located within Wailea -- near Shops At Wailea and not so far from the beach.
try 4-seasons or the grand wailea
we have eaten a few times at diamond...its like a ghost town. We did not like the atmosphere of the hotel at all.
I agree, what you describe sounds more like on the beach strip at Wailea. Shops at Wailea are quite extensive and lots of shopping there. Issue is the price for those beachside places--about twice the Diamond....Maui Prince is in same price range as Diamond but also very quiet. I just read the Diamond reviews on TA and the recent ones give comprehensive descriptions...for the price I%26#39;d be tempted to drive downhill for the activities stay in a beautiful and serene, very different kind of place....
