OLd Lahaina seating delima

Can%26#39;t decide. chairs or mats Do you sit on mats the entire time?

You sit on mats the whole time. (Except, of course, when going through the buffet line.) I was much more comfortable at a table, and I felt the view was better. The tables are on slightly raised platforms. The chairs are regular chairs with backs.

I would definately recommend doing chairs. I%26#39;ve been twice both in chairs, so no personal experience on the mats, but I just think they always look so uncomfortable.

Chairs are O.K but the mats are a must when they start the after meal ';purge'; aerobics. The floor work is particularly tough without one. So even if you choose a chair, try to grab a mat, roll it up and stash it somewhere. When the MC announces the beginning of the audience aerobics at the end of the night, you%26#39;ll be glad that you did.

What an excellent question !

TropixFan: please explain the purge you are talking about, I am clueless.

We sat at the tables in July, the mats/floor seats looked very uncomfortable.

Been there done that-Chairs all the way as we amd you also can make it chair specific-i dont have the bcak for 2 hours sitting on me touchee.

If you are young and flexible with good knees and a good back, then you can try the mat seating...

Me? I enjoy being able to get up easily after the show and walking out of the luau without groaning.... ;-)

Tropix is kidding. I think. :~0

Don%26#39;t know if pertinent to your situation, but last time we attended the OLL there was a couple seated at our table who were extremely happy with their strategy: They sat in the comfortable chairs %26amp; their three kids (who appeared to be in the range of 8-early teens) sat on the mats.

I asked if they were planning on using a similar technique for the long plane ride home and all of a sudden we became the best of friends.

My boyfriend and I sat on mats last year and found them comfortable to start but as the evening wore on, some back support would%26#39;ve been nice. We%26#39;re in our early 30%26#39;s and pretty agile but I would definitely recommend the chairs instead!

Even though the mats are closer to the stage, it would%26#39;ve been nice to lean back to enjoy the show.

Chairs all the way- my opinion- it%26#39;s a long night. The mat people were all figdeting.

Some of the men with long legs had no place to put them!

I have photos and the mat folks look scrunched.

All the views seemed good to me, since it%26#39;s tiered seating.

If you book early, you will get one of the lower, closer tiers but there really are no bad seats in the house.
