Maui County Bus

Any advice on using the Maui County Bus? What condo/restaurant/part of the beach is the Kamaole Beach III bus stop located? Does the bus fit a carry on suitcase? Thanks for any info given!

Maui County Bus

a followup question. are streets and sidewalks easy to walk on? Are they small, rocky, paved, narrow? For example I may be walking down S. Kihei Road to Keonekai Road and down Keonekai Road. Thanks again.

Maui County Bus

Maui County has contracted with Robert%26#39;s to run the public bus system. These are the same professional tour bus operators, and they seem to enjoy their job.

Yes, the bus runs down S. Kihei Road and make stops nearly every block. Bus stops are clearly posted on both sides of the street. I have seen body boards, beach chairs, picnic coolers, and backpacks, but not 30 inch luggage being carried onto the buses. Some of the buses are the new handicap accessible, low-step buses, and others are the size of airport shuttle buses.

The Kihei bus goes south, and turns around at the Shops at Wailea. One dollar per ride, and no transfers. Kihei and Lahaina buses meet in the shopping center at Ma`alaea Harbor (Maui Ocean Center) and then drive into Kahului where they terminate at the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center.

Your question about the sidewalks. There are no sidewalks north of Azeka and Long%26#39;s Center at Pi`ikea and S. Kihei Road. There are sidewalks all the way south, on both sides of the street. There are many, many people talking walks every morning.

Hi, can anyone tell me how long these busses run during the day. We are staying in Kihei across from Kamole Beach 1. We are going to the Marriett Laua in Wailai and I was wondering if a person could take the bus into wailai and would it still be running around 9:00 PM. Is the shops of Wailai anywhere near the Marriett? We will have a car but don%26#39;t want to drive to Wailai and have a few drinks at the Luau and drive back. Thanks.

AlbertaTravelbug -- Click on the link Honu provided to see the schedule. It doesn%26#39;t appear that the bus runs late enough for your purpose.

happyplacestogo -- The bus info tells the dimensions of suitcase allowed (one per person, must fit under seat or on passenger%26#39;s lap without protruding beyond the single seat).

Thanks for the info. Do you know where the Kamaole Beach III stop is?

Is it walkable from the Kamaole Beach III bus stop to Alaku Pl?

The Maui Bus stops right in front of Kam III at the lifeguard station and bathrooms (both directions). You can walk from Alaku Place to Keonekai Road to South Kihei Road. There is a new section of blacktop road between the makai end of Alaku Place and Keonekai Road, but there is only the shoulder to walk on. I would take a flashlight at night. It%26#39;s about three blocks to Kam II, and I would guess it%26#39;s well over one mile to Kam III. I walk that far, but try to avoid 10 to 2, the hottest hours of the day.
