I%26#39;ve just started planning our families first trip to Waikiki and have read lots about these 2 hotels. I%26#39;m wondering if you all feel the HHV is worth the additional $ (approx. $70 more per night/no breakfast). We don%26#39;t necessarily mind paying more as this will be our 20th anniversary trip -- our twin sons will also be turning 14 during this trip. Just want to make sure we%26#39;re making a smart choice. We%26#39;ll be there the first week in August.
Thanks so much!! More questions to come!

It really depends what you want in a hotel.
I%26#39;ve stayed at the HHV multiple times. Probably over
twenty visits. I%26#39;m a Hilton elite, and I was a Diamond for ten years. That means I usually got an upgrade
to a suite, and a free breakfast.
The HHV is very large. They have over 3000 rooms
in six towers; Diamond, Tapa, Alii, Rainbow, Kalia,
and Lagoon. They are building another Tower, the Grand
Waikiian. There are usually large groups of tourists
and lots of activity all the time. Everything is
done well, the decorating, the service, the landscaping. The HHV at Christmas is enchanting. They have a great beach, fine restaurants of every cusine on property. They also have good places to eat, that aren%26#39;t too costly, within the complex. If you don%26#39;t
mind lots of folks and activity HHV is fine. Recently,
I%26#39;ve become aware of more stress because of how busy they are. Checking in has become more of a hassle, getting your car from the Valet has become more tedious. I%26#39;ve recently gravitated to the smaller hotel properties, like the Aqua group hotels.
It%26#39;s your call. I know the HHV, but never stayed
at Resort quest. Most properties want you to be happy. If they are reputable they will take care of you. To do otherwise would get them some adverse exposure on TA.

Hi Tink4, HHV is the best. When we travel to Honolulu every 2 years from Australia we only stay at the HHV. It is worth the extra. The rooms are so lovely, the chooses with dining options is excellent and you are right there on Waikiki beach.
Why would you stay anywhere else and it is quiet, you dont hear cars driving around.
Pay the etxra and you will not regret it.
Enjoy your trip.
We are there again in September after 10 days touring Alaska.
Hi
We have just returned from a week at the HHV. It is a large complex, though you never feel overwhelmed. Only complaint was the early morning noise from the delivery trucks and buses reversing. The beeping from their reversing warning signals starts very early an reminds you of that early morning alarm call. we stayed in Diamond tower, so its probably the one to avoid.
