Please help with sept 08 honeymoon

Hello, my wife to be and i are heavily considering hawaii for our honeymoon in sept this year. I have done some research and think im more confused than when i started lol. Time would be 10-14 days. Would like to stay at or around $8000. Not sure if one island would be best or to split between two? Looking for hotel not interested in condo. Would like a nice balance of things to do along with places to be alone and private. Nice swimming beach is a must along with maybe a private beach? We both like to eat so good hotel food along with close access to restaurants. Shopping is a must at some point for the wife. Dont dive, would like to snorkel. Some nightlife would also be nice. Want to see traditional hawaii. Looking for a nice balance of privacy along with things to do. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

With 10-14 days you can do 2 islands. I%26#39;d suggest O`ahu first, then Kaua`i. Honolulu would give you the shopping, nightlife and such, along with many historic and cultural sites. You can also do a drive around the island to see the rural areas.

Kaua`i would be in stark contrast to the developed part of Hawai`i. It%26#39;s much more rural and laid back, with lots of beautiful beaches and spectacular scenery. Good snorkeling, decent to very good restaurants, very little shopping and nightlife. More oriented to outdoor activities than O`ahu.

If you can plan to fly into Honolulu and home from Lihu`e you%26#39;d save some interisland travel time.

aloha! Yes, I think a few days/week on either Oahu or Maui as pzp suggested and then a full week on Kauai. I would also recommend staying on the North shore of Kauai, though I can%26#39;t recommend a hotel. The beaches are perfect for swimming %26amp; snorkeling and they are dropdead gorgeous! An excellent resource (besides this wonderful forum) would be the Ultimate Kauai Revealed guidebook - excellent details that can really help you with your planning. Best wishes for a wonderful honeymoon. :)

Thank you for the help so far. Is $8000 in line for this type of trip or am i off base? I think maui would be a better choice than oahu after researching the two. Kauai looks amazing!! Any recommendations on where to stay on the two islands within budget? On the beach would be first choice if applicable.

Thanks

Oahu %26amp; Maui would be my choices.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

Your budget offers some flexibility - but the question arises - is that total for air/room/car %26amp; food/activities? Or air/room/car? Either way it is very doable.

Some airlines off chance to fly into Maui and then on to other island (Kauai) Nearly all land in Honolulu and then head on to the other island.

Nightlife is only going to be Oahu, Lahaina (Maui) and some areas of Kihei - although frankly nearly all hotels have restaurants and therefore a bit of nightlife - depending on your level of expectations there. This goes for all islands I think. For the most part once the sun goes dowh they all get rather quiet - but if you are one to dine after sunset most good restaurant will have some entertainment.
