Hyatt vs. Westin Resort & Spa

What are your opinions on these hotels. Her is what is most important to us in order:

1.) nice pool area where you can get a chair after 7 AM

2.) nice and clean rooms

3.) walking distance to some sort of eating establishment(s)

Thanks!

Hyatt vs. Westin Resort %26amp; Spa

We just talked about this.

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29220-i86-k487211…

both have excellent pools

westin has the heavenly bed

hotels are in walking distance to each other, westin is closer to whalers village

Hyatt vs. Westin Resort %26amp; Spa

Thanks! I did a search for Hyatt but that post didn%26#39;t come up in recent posts for some reason. I appreciate it!

Hey Richard, put it like this, we are not rich and are having financial problems. We can get a room 300 dollars cheaper a week at the Westin but haven%26#39;t booked yet and part of the reason is we loved the Hyatt so much. The beds are known as Hyatt sleepers and my DH who is really picky about where he sleeps loved it. The pool was great and Maui Revelead says it is less crowded than the other resorts. The Westin rooms are older. Both are on Kaanapali beach. There is whalers village with restaurants and snacks and ice cream and stores. But I think you would be happy with either.

It really is a tose up. We%26#39;ve stayed at both and we liked both but I%26#39;ll give you some of the pros and cons.

The Westin:

Closer to Whaler%26#39;s Village

Pols are great and the adult pool had plenty of seating (we were there in late April/early May)

Good staff

Great beds

Nice area for a quick continental breakfast not TOO overpriced

Rooms are okay but on the small side (we were upgraded to an oceanview room and I still felt that way)

Bathroom really small

Overall I think this hotel good use an update.

Hyatt:

Farther down the path from Whaler%26#39;s Village but a really nice walk along the beach

Great pools, more shade available (lounge chairs had shade covers at no charge)

Fantastic lobby area and really nice hotel restaurants

Good staff

Rooms larger and the oceanview had a great view up and down the beach

Great bed

Bathroom larger and more modern

If I had to make the choice I would go with the Hyatt

Just returned from the Westin-we really like this hotel-I don%26#39;t feel like the rooms are small, especially, how much time wouldyou want to spend inside the room anyway. The Hyatt is a fine hoteltoo-but I prefer the Westin for its location, primarily.

Have never stayed at the Hyatt but just returned from stay at the Westin. There were always plenty of chairs by the pools, regardless of time of day. Getting one under shade was a bit more difficult but we eventually always managed it. One perk the Westin has which I%26#39;m not sure if offered at the Hyatt involves the last day of a stay. Westin doesn%26#39;t allow late check-outs but do give use of a hospitality suite to clean up and shower late in the afternoon if you like. You can use the pools all day and still have pool, towel, and parking privileges.

If you areamemeber of their frequent stay program-SPG-you can have late check out.

When people mention that the rooms are small at the Westin, they are talking about the rooms in the Ocean Tower. The rooms in the Beach Tower are larger (newer tower).

You had asked about getting a chair after 7am. This will depend on what time of year you are going. I%26#39;ve been to the Westin twice in the last 3 years and both times were in the Last week of Sept. We never had a problem getting two lounges together. During spring break and the summer time, this will change.

There is a beach in front of the Westin, whereas it is pretty non-existent at the Hyatt.

Good luck.

Having never stayed at a beach resort with neighboring resorts, can someone rent beach chairs from hotels other than where you%26#39;re staying? I%26#39;m leaning towards the Hyatt (mid September) which I hear has a pretty lousy beach, so I figure we would walk up the beach towards the Sheraton and possibly rent some chairs up there. Is this possible?

they are all on the same beach just different parts of the beach. Someone I know stayed at the Westin but stayed all day at Black Rock and the Sheraton for their beach. She didn%26#39;t have to pay fro anything.

We haven%26#39;t booked yet and are trying to decide between the Sheraton ,Westin and Hyatt. We want Hyatt but it is the most expensive. We wanted to know about the Westin showers. Someone just posted a new review of the Westin and said they only have hand held showers. IS this true? The Sheraton is much cheaper though.
