I am leaving for a 10 day Hawaian cruise on the Norwegian Wind in a few weeks. We have never been to Hawaii and are looking forward to our trip. The problem: I have read so many BAD reviews on the NCL Wind after booking our trip. We got the cruise at a really inexpensive price and have sailed on NCL, Princess and Holland American. I am expecting a ';budget'; cruise for the price I paid, but I am hoping for a still hoping for a good cruise and enjoying the Islands. The majority of the reviews I have read are not good, I am hoping to find someone whose expectations were reasonable for the price paid, to say they had a good trip. Is any one out there? I need some reassurance!
NCL Wind Hawaian Cruise
I am also leaving on April 4th for the NCL Wind cruise. I would like to hear the same. We have upgraded to Conceirge Service with a balcony room and would like to hear what we can expect from the Conceirge. Also what excursions should we book through NCL and what should we do on our own?
NCL Wind Hawaian Cruise
Update to our January 2007 Norwegian Wind Cruise - Fortunately we had had a good experience on the Wind. A coworker went on the Wind a few weeks ago and had a poor experience, cold food, bad servcie, etc. We found the ship clean and well kept, service was very good. Skip the buffet, the area is cramped and dull. Food is mediocer. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the dining rooms and were very satisfied. The two specialty resturants were very good. You do need to make reservations early in the cruise for the two specialty resturants, they fill up fast. You will find you will have to wait sometimes for a table for lunch and dinner in the regular resturant, 10 - 20 minutes, just be patient. No sense in getting stressed. You are on vacation. I can%26#39;t answer any questions about Conceirge service, I%26#39;m not sure what it is. We had booked an outside oceanview room, for $399 per person. Very satisified with the price we paid! $40 a day for room, food, entertainment, and Hawaii, can%26#39;t be beat!
We booked most of our excursions through NCL, but wish we hadn%26#39;t . Roberts Hawaii offers the same excursions for $49 per person, half the price! We did take two Roberts excursions and were very satisfied. I believe their web site is gorabbitgo.com, or do search for Roberts Hawaii to find out more info.
Fanning Island is unique. I don%26#39; think I would do this port again - 2 days there, 2 days back, but it was a once in a life time experience. Not much to do there unless you like the beach. If you do like the beach, book the NCL shore excursion for the private beach. It was beautiful and uncrowded. Plus you are the first to tender off the ship. Was well worth the $25 per person charge. There is a straw market by the natives, with crafts they make. Very interesting. Good place to by souveniers. The prices are very cheap.
If I had paid alot for this cruise, my review may have been different. But for the price we paid, we were very satisfied. Hawaii is beautiful.
Hope this is helpful.
where did you book/find the norwegian wind cruise? I%26#39;ve been looking lately and never found any hawaii cruises under about $999! I saw alot last year for even $599 but it doesn%26#39;t seem possible now unless we cruise there from Mexico or CA which we definitely don%26#39;t want. I just want a week of cruising the hawaiian islands, fly there and fly back. Any help greatly appreciated! I%26#39;m flexible anytime from May till whenever.
